Are you feeling like life’s script has promised you one direction, but your body seems to have plans of its own, going in another direction? If you’re tired of the medial maze of prescriptions and fleeting diet solutions, that are no solution, you’re not alone.
A formula of wellness that doesn’t work has been pushed on us, and it’s time you know that there is a holistic approach that focuses on nourishing your body, mind, and soul. The best news is that you can get there with small, sustainable changes that lead to long-lasting health and vitality, that doesn’t sacrifice the joys of life.
Have you ever felt like you’re doing all the things, exercising and dieting but need to lose weight, because results are nowhere in sight? This is a clear sign that you aren’t doing the right things for you. It’s time to change your approach and start listening to what your body truly needs.
Read on as I share how I guide clients in this listening process in my 12-week signature system, Balanced Body Breakthrough…
Once we’re in mid-life the results we’re looking for are no longer about vanity, but about improving our health so that we can get off or stay off prescriptions that are known to produce side effects we don’t want added to the list of issues we’re already trying to cope with. Ever wondered why conventional diets fail to deliver? It’s time to explore the concept of insulin resistance.
After decades of searching for lasting weight loss I’d found plenty about what to eat and how to move, but very little on what to do when none of that was working for me. When and why to eat has been left out. Now fasting has hit the scene, and it’s looking at the when to eat. While I’m a fan of fasting, it’s probably not for the same reason that others are suggesting it for you. For me it’s about the benefit of letting your body use resources that it’s been storing and when done properly reseting your insulin resistance.
As we hit midlife there’s been years of consuming food. And over the last 40-50 years processed foods have become the norm. They’re easy, quick, shelf stable and the cool thing to do. But every one of them, even the non-desert ones, are ladened with sugars. Have you ever tracked the amount of sugar you consume in one day? Try it, you may be shocked.
Back to the problem of doing all the things and not seeing results. I encourage you to look at the area of insulin resistance. This can be addressed naturally and is key in a proactive wellness plan. In my Balanced Body Breakthrough program, we evaluate if this is an area you need to look at and what is the right plan for you to follow to reset your insulin resistance, and more importantly how to make that plan fit your life.
Monday mornings often bring the resolve to stick to a plan. I want that for you, but the twist is your plan should be your ally, not your adversary. This is why crafting your personalized plan is not your typical diet. It’s about understanding what your body truly craves, considering your lifestyle, and embracing nourishment not just for your body, but also your soul.
We’ll look at what you’ve followed in the past and decipher what has worked and what hasn’t worked for you. A full body detox cleanse is a nice tool for showing what sneaky intolerances are holding you back. We look at your lifestyle and consider how it’s going to play into this plan.
Because we have 24-7 access to food, we’ve lost the true purpose of food. It was created to fuel our bodies. Now we use it socially and emotionally to fill a hole. In the plan we create food isn't going to be only edible foods, it will also encompass the timing of your meals and your mindset and emotional needs.
I describe my Balanced Body Breakthrough program as a table with the 4 pillars- insulin resistance, diet, movement, and sleep/stress being the legs of the table (we’ve only talked about two so far) and mindset is the tabletop. Mindset is a section of its own, but it’s woven into each of the other sections creating a stable unit (aka-You). But if any one of the legs is missing the whole plan teeters and the usefulness is lost.
Mindset could be the very thing that is keeping you from losing weight, keeping your blood pressure high, keeping you from sleeping all night. Remember, good health isn’t just about the body; it’s about nurturing your soul too. When you feed your soul with positivity, self-love, and self-acceptance, your body responds in kind.
Statements to yourself like “your fat, have a big butt, jiggly or thick”, or telling yourself or others that you “have high blood pressure” or you “can’t sleep”, are you putting in your order for what you do want. What? Your mind is always listening and wants to give you the results it hears you speaking to. If you’ve become addicted to your problems and have been reinforcing them, I want to give you the tools and help you create the life you’re not voicing.
You’ve had dreams, you’ve set goals, you’ve had these visions of life after the kids leave home. I want to help you bring out the old you that’s been pushed to the side, whose needs have been ignored because of other priorities. You deserve those dreams, goals, and visions and to let go of the emotional and physical weight you’ve been carrying. Afterall, what takes higher priority than you being able to control your heath, your wellness, and your emotional needs?
After years of trying all the standard diet actions I learned I was leaving one IMPORTANT action out of every plan I'd tried.
It was MINDSET!

The sister “S’s” are stress and sleep, if one is out of whack the other will be as well. You may think this is odd but sleep really is the foundation of weight loss, and health. For one when you’re sleep deprived your body will be very stingy with giving up fat and for two, these two sisters are entwined with many hormones that can hijack your health goals. I’m sure you’ve heard of cortisol, it’s one of the hormones we’ll look at in the Balanced Body Breakthrough program.
When struggling with sleep it’s not uncommon for people to turn to medication to help. If that’s you, how’s it working? I beleive we can craft a process for stress relief that will improve your sleep so that you can properly recharge and reset your mind and body each night. Mathew Walker has studied sleep intensely and is quoted as saying that “sleep is the tide that raises all the other health boats”. Do you have a health boat that needs to rise?
Getting a good night’s sleep isn’t just about a good bedtime routine. While routine is important it’s small choices throughout the day that set you up for sweet dreams. Poor sleep is affecting your body’s repair mechanisms, leading to a day where you don’t feel your best. Which leads to being stressed about not showing up in the capacity you’d like, turning into another sleepless night. It’s a vicious circle, but it can be broken.
By making small changes to your daily routine, you can create a ripple effect of positive transformation. Whether it's opting for a 10-minute meditation session, choosing whole foods over processed ones, or simply practicing gratitude, these small acts accumulate to create a healthier, happier you.
Technology is great, however it’s very easy to craft a life that you barely must move to function in. Many are now dominated by these sedentary lifestyles, and they’re also suffering with aches and pains, digestion issues, trouble sleeping, and a growing waistline. Movement is your ticket to freedom.
Whether you want to train for a marathon, or you only want to run when being chased by a bear, movement is key. Together we come up with the right balance of movement that you’re comfortable committing to, with consistency, and enjoy seeing where it grows from there.
I know you have goals for the coming phases of your life. You’ve spent so much time working towards freedom in your golden years and now you’re stressing about having the stamina and health to enjoy it. Once you’ve crafted a balanced movement plan that you can take consistent action on, you’ll notice the ripple effect take off.
By making a small improvement in one of these five areas the easier it is to improve in another one of the areas. Before long you begin to uplevel in each area. Each improvement builds on the other, but you must have a solid foundation. Something you want to consistently stick with each area.
If you’re tired of the same decline year after year you owe it to yourself, and those you love, to explore if one on one coaching is something you’d benefit from. Some people can do it on their own, others need support, accountability, and a proven process.
It’s not just about calories, it’s about understanding that your body is a complete system and must be allowed to function in the way it was designed. It’s about focusing on the tiny habits that work harmoniously with your body, not against it.
