You didn't spend hours searching for the latest plan and perfect recipes just to skip it and say you'll start tomorrow. But how many times in the endless cycle of chronic dieting and your frustration of struggling with losing weight does this happen?
I get it, you're finding yourself feeling crappy because extreme diets have left you feeling deprived and defeated. You want to know how to stay consistend with diet. You're not alone, you've got many midlife women standing beside you facing the same challenges. Take a deep breath, because there is a way, a better way, to achieve lasting health and well-being. Let's answer how to become health again.
As a Balanced Body Guide, I understand the uniqueness of your struggles and the journey you're on to improve your health for once and for all. It's time to shift your perspective, embrace a balanced approach, and discover the power of the middle choice and allow yourself to start becoming healthier.
Read on for the glorious details.
When it comes to making a change to weight, everyone wants FAST results, but extreme diets with their strict rules come with a heavy price of inconsistency. Without consistency the expectations of results are unrealistic. These diets can leave you feeling deprived, which often spirals into a cycle of emotional eating followed by a less than inspirational conversation with yourself and a truckload of guilt. The truth is extreme dieting rarely leads to the sustainable, long-term health that is deeply desired.
One of the keys to achieving and maintaining good health naturally is consistency. However, it's essential to understand consistency, what it gets to look like for you! It is not having to follow an extreme diet religiously. It is about finding the middle ground that you can stick with for each action, every day.
Everything in life operates on a pole that has two extremes. An easy example is temperature. You have freezing at one end and boiling at the other end, and in between the two extremes...there's a whole lot of middle ground!
I guide my clients through this polarity concept in relation to food choices, activity choices, emotional states, honestly the whole gamut of life. This allows them to understand that rather than swinging between extreme diets and giving up entirely, why not choose the middle path! By doing so, you begin to collect evidence that you CAN succeed. When you start with small, manageable changes in your diet and lifestyle you build a solid foundation that you can gradually build upon. This approach allows you to develop healthy habits that become a natural part of your life.
To become healthier, it's crucial to focus on being nourished. Not just the body...but also the mind and soul. This holistic approach goes beyond just what you eat and how you exercise. It involves:
Mindful Eating: Paying attention to your body's hunger and fullness cues. Allowing all your senses to be engaged throughout each meal or snack. Understanding how the choices you make are impacting how your body will be reacting hours from now.
Positive Mindset: Recognizing that your thoughts and emotions are interconnected with your diet and overall well-being. By changing your mindset, you can flip the script on your feelings and improve your health.
One-on-One Support: Even though you're in midlife, and you feel like you should know everything about everything, including yourself, you don't. As a Balanced Body Guide, I do midlife coaching, helping women who've been going through the health motions for years and struggling with reaching the goals they set. They're ready to feel better now. Seeking guidance to create a personalized plan for your health and happiness is true self-care and self-love.
After years of trying all the standard diet actions I learned I was leaving one IMPORTANT action out of every plan I'd tried.
It was MINDSET!

Let me share an example of consistency and how the middle choice can be one of your best weight loss habits.
Think of a time when going to the gym after work was the plan when you left home in the morning. As the day progressed there were problems at the office. Problems that needed your attention and focus. By the time you're finally able to call it a day you're mentally drained, running late, and realize you forgot your workout shoes at home.
At one end of the pole, you have - going to the gym and having the best workout you can. At the other end of the pole, you have going home, grabbing a bag of chips, and plopping on the couch for a good long Netflix binge.
What about all the areas in between that you have the option to choose?
This might look like going home and:
The options for middle choice actions are endless.
Opting to put the middle choice into action when it comes to every area of your life will not only keep you satisfied but also sustains a balanced approach towards creating habits that'll help you reach your long-term goals.
As you go forward choose the middle choice when it comes to...
Moving your body. Where can you find pockets of time to add in physical activity?
Hydration. Starting your day with a big glass of water and substituting water for more and more of your typical drinks.
Sleeping well. Sleep is the only opportunity that your body has for recovering and healing, prioritize quality.
Managing stress. Finding practices that you enjoy that allow for letting go and letting be.
Extreme dieting has been so frustrating because your path to true health will be unique to you. Attempting what your bestie has tried and not getting the same results doesn't mean you were wrong; it means that plan was wrong for you.
